Tips for Uploading/Downloading Files

If you are experiencing difficulties with uploading or downloading a file to/from your HireMeLegal Workroom, Portfolio, or a Proposal please try the troubleshooting steps noted in this page. If you continue to experience issues after trying these tips, please contact our team for further assistance.

These tips can help when encountering errors like the following:

  1. Error #2032 during a failed upload
  2. A popup stating that Flash was blocked for this page
  3. Unable to select or see the “Browse” button to locate a file
  4. A yellow exclamation mark (!) alongside the file name of a failed upload
  5. A blank page and/or the url of the page repeatedly changes from www.hiremelegal.com to ws.hiremelegal.com when downloading a file

Trouble with uploading a file

Update your Flash and Java settings:

The HireMeLegal system uses both Flash and Java. To ensure that you are able to access all the features of the HireMeLegal website it is important to make sure that these plugins are up to date. To see if you have the most recent versions of Flash or Java and to download these updates, please visit the following links. After updating your Flash and Java versions, please attempt your upload again:

Allow Flash and Uploads:

As noted above, HireMeLegal uses Flash during the file uploading process. You may see a popup stating that “Flash has been blocked for this page” or a similar message. You may also see Error #2032. Follow the steps below to ensure your Plugins or browser settings are not blocking Flash. After allowing Flash, please attempt your upload again:

  1. If you are seeing a popup stating “Flash has been blocked for this page” or similar, please make sure to check “Allow” to allow Flash to run on the page.
  2. If you are seeing the Error #2032, please disable all Flash blocking plugins including Flash-block.
  3. If you are using Firefox or Chrome, it could be your Flash blocking disabling your ability to upload. Please try the following links to remove your Flash block:
  4. If you are unsure which plugins or add-on block flash please open your browser plugins and disable everything but the following:
    • Java(™) Platform
    • Shock-wave Flash

Additionally, some anti-virus solutions block uploads from completing successfully. Check your anti-virus solution and try disabling this software before attempting to upload your file again.

Try a different browser:

Sometimes these issues are tied to a specific browser. If you have another browser installed please try closing the page and using that. HireMeLegal supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari (Mac OS) and IE (Windows).

Try the Basic Up-loader:

Still unable to upload your file? HireMeLegal’s Basic Up-loader allows your system a more simplified process for uploading files. Simply click the “Basic Up-loader” link below and follow the prompts to upload.

Trouble with downloading a file

Uninstall download manager software:

Download issues can be impacted by third party download managers. Please check to see if there is any download manager software installed. If there is, please uninstall it and try downloading again.

Disable Flash blocking plugins:

Certain plugins or add-on can prevent files from downloading correctly or at all. If there are any plugins installed please disable all flash blocking plugins including Flash-block. As noted above, HireMeLegal uses Flash during the file uploading process. You may see a popup stating that “Flash has been blocked for this page” or a similar message. You may also see Error #2032. Follow the steps below to ensure your Plugins or browser settings are not blocking Flash. After allowing Flash, please attempt your download again:

  1. If you are seeing a popup stating “Flash has been blocked for this page” or similar, please make sure to check “Allow” to allow Flash to run on the page.
  2. If you are seeing the Error #2032, please disable all Flash blocking plugins including Flash-block.
  3. If you are using Firefox or Chrome, it could be your Flash blocking disabling your ability to upload. Please try the following links to remove your Flash block:

Add HireMeLegal as a trusted site:

If you are getting blank page when opening or downloading a file and the URL of the page keeps changing from www.hiremelegal.com to ws.hiremelegal.com then your browser may be looping. This issue is more likely to happen when using Internet Explorer. Follow the steps below to add HireMeLegal as a trusted site, then please attempt your download again:

  1. Open the  “Internet Options” Security Tab of your browser
  2. Click “Trusted sites” 
  3. Make sure that the Slider for Trusted sites is set to Medium or Medium-High, then click the “Sites” button. There will be a new pop up.
  4. If the “Require server verification” option is checked, uncheck it.
  5. And add “*.ws.hiremelegal.com” to your list of sites.
  6. Check the “Require server verification” option.
  7. Click “Close” then “OK.”
